Monty Python's Spamalot at Starlight Theatre - Kansas City
Monty Python's Spamalot comes to Starlight Theatre - Kansas City on. Inspired by the comedy film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical brings the British comedy troupe's irreverent take on Arthurian legend to the stage. Its story follows King Arthur and his knights on a quest for the Holy Grail, with absurd encounters, theatrical spectacle, and songs that playfully send up musical-theatre conventions.
Created by Eric Idle, with music by John Du Prez and Idle, Spamalot opened on Broadway in 2005 and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. Its best-known songs include “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” and “The Song That Goes Like This.” The show's blend of familiar Python humor, energetic ensemble numbers, and deliberately over-the-top staging has helped it find audiences well beyond its original screen and stage following.
